Volunteers are the next target of a program helping teach disadvantaged youths to drive after a Geelong dealer provided two free cars this week.
Winter and Taylor donated the vehicles to the L2P learner driver mentor program, which has put almost 5000 participants on the road around Victoria.
The program helps L-platers without access to a vehicle or supervising driver, providing both free of charge so they can accumulate 120 hours of driving experience for their P plates.
Winter and Taylor Motor Group’s James Morphy said the company was happy to help.
“Road safety and good driving habits are something our business is keen to promote and this is just one small way we can do this,” he said.
“We want the young people of Geelong to have every opportunity to learn to drive in a safe, reliable vehicle.”
State MP David Koch and Liberal candidate for South Barwon Paula Kontelj praised Winter and Taylor for its generosity.
Ms Kontelj said the program was now after experienced drivers to volunteer.
Anyone interested in helping could phone April Livesley or Sarah Lewis on 5272 4011, she said.
