People wanting to catch a cab in Geelong will have one phone number to remember after the region’s two operators become partners on Sunday.
The companies will merge after Geelong’s Murrell family sold Bay City Cabs to Melbourne firm Silver Top Taxis.
The Melbourne company has entered into a joint venture with Geelong Radio Cabs to dispatch all taxis in Geelong from the same call centre.
The new service will operate under the name Geelong Taxi Network.
A spokesperson said the region’s 145 taxis would operate under the phone number 131 008, the same six digits used to call cabs in all major Australian cities.
