City’s internet TV experiment hits a snag

THE OWNER of Geelong’s first internet TV channel has gone into administration.
Jenkins Peake & Co will report to creditors of Now What Media Group within 21 days.
Administrator Geoff Ridgeway has called for expressions of interest in buying GOTV.
Mr Ridgeway said he had yet to determine the debts of Now What Media Group.
“I think the principal creditors are the shareholders but I don’t think we’re talking about a substantial amount of debt,” he said.
GOTV issued a statement about the wind up less than six months since the launch of the channel.
“This very disappointing news is no reflection on the concept of GOTV, nor on the outstanding quality of the local content and the very professional way it was presented and delivered to viewers,” the statement said.
The Independent had intended to supply GOTV with local news content.
GOTV was also Australia’s first commercial internet television channel.
