Diners have enjoyed a taste test of seafood delights set to grace thousands of plates at an Australia-first restaurant on Queenscliff Pier during Easter.
Charity Restaurant organisers served up a range of brightly coloured platters to Australian Seafood Show representatives, Gordon Institute of TAFE staff and media figures at the institute’s Davidson Restaurant on Wednesday.
Entrees featured oysters, prawns, seafood salad, mussels and calamari, while main course samples dished out fish, lobster and crayfish cooked to perfection.
Guests gave the dishes their thumbs up while toasting the talents of Gordon chefs behind the culinary treats.
Charity Restaurant will serve up lunches and dinners to thousands of patrons during Easter to raise money for hospitals and other causes.
The Independent, a Charity Restaurant sponsor, will host a dinner on April 7 to raise money for Starlight Foundation.
The fundraisers will run in conjunction with an inaugural Australian Seafood Show.
Spokesman Scott Talbot said Charity Restaurant’s food was sure to “wow” guests.
“It will be a theatrical experience, with an edgy ambience and a gastronomic journey of dishes,” he said.
Bellarine MP Lisa Neville this week announced a $30,000 grant for the seafood show.
The show would attract around 20,000 visitors to provide “significant economic benefits” for the region, she said.
