RACV calls for tenders to build its coastal clubhouse

RACV has called for tenders to build Torquay’s new golf clubhouse as part of the motoring giant’s $55 million redevelopment of the course.
RACV general manager for clubs and resorts Sue Blake said tenders would close mid-April.
She said the organisation had completed preparations for the “actual” works on the club and was waiting for a green light from Surf Coast Shire to proceed with the next stage of the development.
The Independent revealed last year the RACV was waiting for a licence to pump water from Jan Juc Creek.
Ms Blake said council officers were this week reviewing RACV’s “storm water harvesting” proposal.
The shire has requested “additional supporting information”, she said.
“Our consultants are currently preparing (this information) and we anticipate providing this additional information to council next week,” Ms Blake said.
“In the meantime, we have completed preparations for the actual works on the water supply and golf course for immediate commencement once council has concluded their deliberations.
“RACV is looking forward to having this matter finalised so we can commence the works on the golf course.”
The RACV officially took over the course on October 13, 2008, with Torquay Golf Club staying as a tenant as part of the deal.
The RACV’s $55 million redevelopment plan includes membership perks, accommodation facilities with 55 to 66 five-star rooms, a new clubhouse and an upgraded golf course.
