Bashed Trickey assault charges adjourned

Geelong Facebook page blogger Jason Trickey will face assault and damage charges in the Geelong Magistrates’ Court.

The 41-year-old  self-styled social media guru and IT consultant is expected to plead not guilty to charges of  recklessly causing injury to a female and criminal damage at an April 16 hearing.

Mr Trickey was recently stabbed and bashed at North Geelong in a brutal attack.

Geelong Police Constable Adam Foran told the Independent the charges related to the alleged assault of a female. The matter has been adjourned after mentions in court mid-January and again on Tuesday this week.

Trickey last month posted photographs on Facebook from his hospital bed, wearing a neckbrace. He did not respond to phone messages from the Independent.

Police are understood to be investigating Facebook postings by a Geelong man related to threats against Trickey and later bragging about assaults against Trickey.

Trickey also posted Facebook images of facial bruises he sustained late last year after an undisclosed incident.

In the latest incident, Trickey was reportedly attacked by six or seven youths after breaking into his Thompson Road home.

By various accounts, he was stabbed, bashed and struck with bricks.

Trickey was  attacked also three years following an incident at Corio, after which he criticised police for insufficient resources.
