Talkin’ Turkey’s the gift that keeps on giving for St Albans Park’s Knox and Elaine Campbell.
After finding all five turkeys in the 11 December edition, they were among this week’s quintet of winning entries alongside Rose Boseley, Lynne Widdup, Geoff Wilson and Caroline Hornibrook.
But rather than a delicious addition to their Christmas lunch, Knox and Elaine had a special purpose for their succulent bird.
“We’re giving it away to a couple in Ballarat with eight adopted children,” Knox told the Indy over the phone.
“We got in touch with them yesterday to say we had a turkey for them and they said, yes, they’d be very pleased to accept it.”
However, the turkey was delayed for take-off on its mercy dash to Ballarat this week.
“We’d be on the way now but our cat’s outside sleeping somewhere and we have to find it first to bring it inside,” Knox confided.
Email the names of the businesses whose ads have turkeys to indy@geelongindy.com.au or message entries to facebook.com/GeelongIndy. Entries must include a contact name and phone number.
Entries close midday Monday.
