Dry July Foundation has announced a grant of $52,000 to Barwon Health’s Andrew Love Cancer Centre.
The funds would be used for an art therapy program, an exercise therapy program and for patient chemotherapy diaries, the organisation said.
The funds were in addition to the $99,000 already raised for Barwon Health when Dry July participants gave up booze for a month, foundation chief Brett Macdonald said.
The foundation awarded more than $675,000 to 26 organisations to support adults living with cancer, he said.
“This is the first year we’ve been able to make additional funds available following the fundraising campaign in July,” Mr Macdonald said.
“We received a number of interesting applications from a diverse range of cancer support organisations across Australia and were able to distribute grants for many projects across 26 different organisations.”
Dry July Foundation assists cancer support organisations with funds to implement projects and programs aimed at improving the wellbeing of adult cancer patients.
Each grant was capped at $30,000 but organisations could apply for more than one project, Mr Macdonald said.
Dry July Foundation will again raise funds for its grant program in 2016, with applications opening in September.
