A lotto luck along our ocean road

The Great Ocean Road region has come in sixth on a lotto hotspot list, featuring 10 winners who finished 2015 a combined $11.7 million richer.
Gambling giant Tatts made its own list and checked it twice to find out where all the division-one lotto prizes were won in the past 12 months.
Geelong accounted for six division-one winning lotto entries during the 12 months to 30 November.
The result propelled the hotspot region of the Great Ocean Road as the best performing region outside of the Melbourne suburbs.
The region takes in Warrnambool and Portland, where the other four top winners were located.
Geelong biggest single win was a $14 million prize won through Town and Country Lotto in Waurn Ponds.
Lotto lightning struck twice at the Drysdale Lotto outlet, home to twin $1 million prizes.
Other wins included $1 million wins through both Highton Lotto and Bellpost Lotto and News and a $470,000 prize won through Bellarine Village Lotto Newcomb.
A total of 144 Tatts players across Victoria discovered what it’s like to win division one, equating to more than $200 million in division one prize money won across all Tatts lotto games.
The title of 2015 Tatts Lotto Hotspot in Victoria went to Sunbury with four wins totalling more than $4.9 million in first division prize money.
The biggest lotto prize in Victoria in the past 12 months was a massive $20 million Oz Lotto prize won in April in Richmond.
Tatts spokesperson Claire Taylor said while it was great to crunch the numbers and see where the division one wins were in 2015, it did not mean a ticket purchased in those suburbs had a greater chance of winning than any other ticket.
“While some people are superstitious in deciding where they will purchase their entries from, it is important for players to remember that lotto is a random game of chance,” Ms Taylor said.
“Regardless of where a ticket is purchased, every number on every ticket has an equal chance of being drawn.”
