EARLIER:

POLICE are searching for a man who escaped from the rear of a divisional van after he was arrested early this morning.

The 31-year-old was arrested in relation to an alleged property offence in Geelong’s Moorabool Street just before 2am.

Shannon Bonney was handcuffed and placed in the rear of the divisional van to be transported back to the police station.

He managed to escape from the van near the intersection of McKillop Street and ran off.

Shannon is described as 185cm tall, of Caucasian appearance with a thin build and short brown hair.

He was last seen wearing a dark coloured t-shirt, jeans and handcuffs.

Investigators have also released an image of Bonney in the hope someone recognises him and can provide information regarding his current whereabouts.

He was possibly seen in a small blue car in the Grovedale area around 8am this morning.

At this time police do not believe Bonney is armed.

Anyone with any information about his whereabouts should call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
