LEADING Geelong musicians and singers have loaned their talents to a new fundraising CD for big kids.
Blues legend Chris Wilson heads the line-up including Sarah Carroll and Angie Hilton, Sophia Katos and Lash78.
Promoters said their CD, Whatem 2, featured original songs “that kids will love and parents won’t hate”.
Proceeds would go to Bluebird Foundation, a Geelong based not-for-profit organisation dedicated to making quality arts programs aimed at all members of the community.
The artists will launch Whatem 2 at Edge Geelong from 3pm this Saturday November 19 with a free live show.
Bluebird Foundation’s Bron Lawson said the songs on the CD bridged the gap between kiddie bands like The Wiggles and top 40 hits.
“Whatem 2 bravely charts the rocky road that children and parents navigate together from preschool to puberty,” she said.
“With topics as varied as road trips, how to get on with your mates and bubble wrap, these songs are certain to hit the mark with five to 12-year-olds.
“Musicians from the Geelong region have generously supported the project. “Many of the artists involved are parents themselves and were thrilled to have this vehicle for inspiring a love of music in children.”
City of Greater Geelong and Medici Studios supported the CD’s recording.
Lawson said more information, sales of Whatem 2 online and opportunities to support Bluebird Foundation were available by phoning 0438 577 214 or visiting www.bluebirdfoundationinc.org.au.
