Cats – in: Bartel, Scarlett; out: Amos

CATS veteran Jimmy Bartel has signed a one year contract extension taking him into a 15th season.
And another club legend, Matthew Scarlett, has been added to the full-time coaching staff as development coach.
Assistance coach Dale Amos will leave the club while Paul Hood moves from VFL coach to player development.
With 283 games under his belt, Bartel could become just the fourth Geelong player to reach the 300 game milestone.
Bartel played 11 games in 2015, recovering well from an early season knee injury.
Geelong’s General Manager of Football Steve Hocking said the club was pleased Bartel would remain at the club.
“Jimmy played good consistent football this year and we expect more of the same in 2016,” Hocking said.
“He bounced back from injury well and can play a multitude of roles for us. He has shown that adaptability over the years and continues to do so.”
Hocking said the club had been impressed with Scarlett’s work with its younger players.
“We saw great progress from many of our younger players and Matthew was a big part of this.
“He came back in a part-time role but his work ethic meant he was here much more than expected, and the benefits were there to see.
“We believe our players will benefit from even more time under his coaching and mentoring.”
Amos joined the Cats in late 2008 as VFL coach and progressed to AFL assistant at the end of the 2011 season.
Hood joined the Cats in 2011 and has served as academy co-ordinator, VFL coach and now as player development manager.
Hocking said Hood’s role would see him spend more off-field time with the club’s young players.
