Drink-driver puts kids’ lives at risk

A Corio woman had two children in the backseat of her car when police caught her driving at twice the legal blood alcohol limit.

Police intercepted the 34-year-old woman at a booze bus site on Ballarat Road, Hamlyn Heights, just after 6pm on Sunday night.

The female driver returned a positive preliminary breath test and police discovered two young children in the car.

Police took the woman to a police station where she returned a blood alcohol concentration of 0.114 per cent.

Officers impounded her car for 30 days and immediately suspended her licence.

Police expected to charge the woman on summons with drink-driving offences at a later date.
