After three losses in a row North Geelong Warriors needs to come together and improve its execution of chances while putting in a solid grind against visiting Werribee City this Saturday at Elcho Park in round 12 of NPL 2 action.
Werribee will come to North Geelong with a turn in form, having won three of its last four matches, most recently a 3-2 victory away against the highly polished Melbourne City team.
Werribee has also been able to find the back of the net in the past four games, something the Warriors have been finding difficult in recent weeks.
Werribee’s recent form has come about from various goal scorers but one to note is Hiro Nagatomi. With four goals in recent weeks he’s making scoring a habit.
North Geelong, with an improved performance last weekend, was not outplayed by any means but confidence is lacking and evident in executing ball movement with authority and keeping shape especially when under pressure.
Against Moreland last weekend two of the three goals were gifted to City courtesy of poor distribution, giving a top-of-the-table opponent gilt-edged chances, which did enough to force North into chasing the game.
To add to the Warriors’ woes, influential midfielder Michael Boyar was red-carded late on, forcing him to miss the match against Werribee.
However, in good news skipper Michael Anderson returned from injury to put in an impressive 25 minutes off the bench to pressure and create opportunities, which will be much needed this weekend.
Also, Darius Madison found scoring rhythm with the under-20s and is expected to feature in first team action this weekend.
North Geelong’s under-20s continued its good form with a convincing 5-1 win over Moreland City on the back of goals to Jak Banks, Anthony Leban, George Ellis and Darius Madison.
