Team approach to your health

Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy that may be able to help with back pain.
It focuses on the treatment of joints, muscles and connective tissue using techniques such as soft tissue massage, joint mobilisaton, stretching and manipulation which is tailored to each patient’s presenting complaint.
Osteopaths can help to manage a range of musculoskeletal conditions including acute and chronic spinal strains and sprains, sporting injuries, headaches caused by neck problems, and pregnancy related conditions, to name a few.
There are Kardinia Osteopathic Clinics in South Geelong and Lara which include four full-time osteopaths – Darrell Pummeroy, Rachael Barton, Matthew Kelley and Maureen Mola – and myotherapists Angela Byrt and Gavin Skurrie working across both locations.
Their philosophy is that the best results can be achieved through accurate diagnosis, prompt treatment, appropriate rehabilitation and education about injury prevention.
They also believe in a team approach and also have podiatry, exercise physiology, myotherapy and Pilates services available.
The Pilates classes are conducted in a renovated exercise rehabilitation room at the new Lara Clinic.
The aim of the Pilates classes and the exercise physiology sessions is to manage injury prevention by improving spinal stability, posture and balance, and flexibility.
The classes involve up to six people at a time and are small enough that the Pilates instructors are able to work closely with each individual and ensure correct muscle activation and technique.
Kardinia Osteopathic Clinic is at 15 Fyans Street, South Geelong, and 16 Station Lake Road, Lara.
