Police plea on soccer fan brawl

POLICE have released images of five men they want to speak to after an alleged brawl between opposing soccer fans in Melbourne’s CBD last year.

The incident occurred outside a licensed premises on Bourke Street about 3.40pm on Saturday 28 December. Melbourne Recidivist Tasking Unit members have charged 11 men following the incident — among them a 32-year-old Norlane man charged with affray, conduct endangering serious injury, throw/discharge missile and carry dangerous article.

The man has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrate’s Court on 20 May. Three NSW male youths were also issued with cautions and two other NSW men are expected to be charged on summons with assault-related offences.

Investigations are continuing and police are still trying to speak to the five men who they believe can assist with their enquiries.

Anyone who may recognise the men or anyone with further information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au
