Region set for party in square

Jessica Benton
THE BEST of the Bellarine Peninsula will go on show in Melbourne’s city centre for a free celebration next weekend.
Produce, wine and information about peninsula tourism drawcards such as its new HMAS Canberra dive site will tempt passers-by at Federation Square in a showcase of everything the region has to offer.
Organisers said the Bellarine Beach Party would also feature live music performances from artists and bands featuring on Queenscliffs legendary Blues Train.
Other highlights would include free produce tastings covering everything from beer and olives to blueberries and abalone.
Bellarine Estate Winery owner Peter Kenny, who will join other businesses taking part in the promotion, said it would take the region into the heart of Melbourne.
“We’re trying to promote the local area and everything that’s on offer in the region and trying to get people to come down here,” he said.
“What better way to do that then with a beach party with wine, food and beer.”
The Bellarine Beach Party will run at Federation Square’s Atrium from 10am to 5pm on February 28.
