FOR an activity still rated as a fate worse than death, a Geelong Toastmasters group has done well to achieve a 200-meeting milestone.
Public speaking is feared far and wide, yet everyone is called upon to make a speech at some life stage.
City of Greater Geelong Toastmasters club publicity officer David Parr said the group had helped countless local men and women cope with the public-speaking limelight.
“We still have three of our original members who are still active, so it’s a fine achievement for the club, considering we’re one of two in Geelong,” he said.
“Toastmasters is a proven way of building speaking and leadership skills that can be used in a variety of situations such as work presentations, functions, job interviews, or even one-on-one.
“Our members come from all walks of life, including professionals, students, stay-at-home parents and retirees.”
