Winner back on lookout for love

COLAC’S Laura McGrath is still searching for love after putting her heart on the line in a national reality television series.
The 26-year-old former Geelong resident was a contestant on Channel Nine series The Farmer Wants a Wife, which ended this week.
The fourth series followed seven lonely farmers on the road to romance as they chose between hundreds of prospective partners.
Laura was one of three women who won the eye of laid-back lad Russell McGugan to visit his Dunkeld farm, at the southern entrance to the Grampians, in the hope of finding a love-match.
She was the final woman standing when the last episode aired on Monday night despite a twist that led to Russell visiting her rival, Natalee, in a trip to the big smoke.
But Laura told the Independent the budding romance was short-lived.
“We were together for about a month after the show,” she said. “But we came to the realisation that there was a better friendship there than anything else.
“I’m still friends with Russell and Nat and we’ve caught up a few times in Melbourne and Nat is planning on coming to Colac.”
Laura said she had no regrets about being a part of the show but was now settling back into life in Colac.
“The experience is something you don’t come across every day but I definitely don’t have any regrets,” she said.
“I’m still single but I’m having a little break from the whole dating scene.”
