Motorist ‘cleared on death of rider’

By Michelle Herbison
A CAR driver involved in a fatal collision with a motorcyclist at Moolap is “completely innocent”, according to police.
Leading Senior Constable Malcolm Durrant said the driver faced no charges over the accident on Tuesday.
“He had no injuries but was pretty well shook up, of course.”
The motorcycle rider crashed his Suzuki sports bike into the Falcon at the corner of High and Denbigh Sts, Moolap.
The man had finished work and was riding down Denbigh St before the crash about 5.30pm.
He died at the scene despite Ambulance crews’ attempt to resuscitate him.
Snr Const Durrant said one witness had made a statement and “a couple of others” had said they heard the crash.
The man’s family was “very upset” and refused to allow police to release his details, he said.
The man’s boss from his Denbigh St workplace was also “upset”, Snr Const Durrant said.
