Speaking to children about the birds and the bees can be awkward for parents and carers.
Fortunately for Geelong, acclaimed comedian, author and health ambassador Nelly Thomas will present her light-hearted take on the topic from 6.30pm 30 July at Simonds Stadium.
Thomas will deliver The Talk to parents and carers of children in grades five, six and secondary school.
Thomas’s free presentation is based on her 12 years’ experience delivering sex health shows to Victorian teenagers.
The show also features a special panel of local health professionals, including Headspace project offcier Dr Sue Barker, counsellor Colleen Weir, Bellarine Secondary College nurse Raelene Newton and Kardinia Health Belmont’s Dr Michael Roberts.
Women’s Health & Wellbeing Barwon South West Communications Officer Julia Thompson hoped many parents would seize the opportunity to obtain advice on dealing with the sometimes tricky topic.
“Sexual health and ethics for teens is an important topic for all parents and carers – and no one delivers this type of information in a more humorous and entertaining way than Nelly Thomas.
“The night is a great way to get involved with your kids’ health.”
