With hits like You’ve Got A Friend and Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, the music of legendary songwriter Carole King was the soundtrack of a generation during the ’70s.
Now a a new stage show is bringing her songs to life again for subsequent generations in Australia.
Carole King – The Songbook Of Her Life pays tribute to arguably the most successful female songwriter of all time.
Coming to Geelong as part of a national tour, the two-hour concert features 32 of King’s greatest hits.
With King achieving 118 Billboard Top 100 hits, four Grammy awards in a year and more than 25 million sales of smash-hit album Tapestry, her catalogue provides the new show with plenty of material.
The production features the vocals of Michelle Brasier, Jessica Papst and Erin Herrmann Young with the pop-rock backing of the Wonderland Avenue Band.
Promoters said the audience would hear songs from Broadway musical Beautiful along with hits such as You’ve Got A Friend, Natural Woman, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, I Feel the Earth Move, It’s Too Late, Hard Rock Cafe and many more from King’s 50-year catalogue.
The promoters said the production company behind the King show, JTM Productions, was also responsible for other successful tribute shows including California Dreaming – The Music of the Mamas and Papas.
