Trickey gets prison term

By Noel Murphy

High-profile Geelong Facebook blogger Jason Trickey has been sentenced to six months jail for assaulting a woman.
Two months of the six-month sentence were suspended for two years in Geelong Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
A seven-day sentence for criminal damage was to be served concurrently.
Trickey planned to appeal but remained in custody when the Independent went to press.
The matter had been adjourned after mentions in court mid-January and again in February.
The 41-year-old self-styled social media guru and IT consultant had contested the charges.
Trickey was stabbed and bashed when up to seven youths allegedly attacked him in his home on Thompson Rd, North Geelong, earlier this year.
Trickey posted photographs in January on Facebook from his hospital bed, wearing a neckbrace.
He also posted Facebook images of facial bruises sustained late last year after an undisclosed incident.
Trickey was also attacked three years ago following an incident at Corio, after which he criticised police for insufficient resources.
