Auditioning for the region’s premier talent quest could change the lives of young local musicians, according to one of last year’s winners.
Thomas McGuane said Rotary Club of Highton’s annual Star Search was “one of his greatest achievements to date”.
“It was such an amazing time for me, where I could develop and hone my performing abilities and share my gift with the people of Geelong,” said the vocal category winner.
“Now I have grown to be recognised in my local community as well Geelong society and would encourage others to participate in this life-chaning event.”
Thomas said Star Search was ideal for any young musician seeking experience in a “professional environment”.
Audition registrations for vocalists and instruments have opened at starsearch.net.au.
This year’s Star Search grand final will have $5000 in prize money up for grabs.
St Luke’s Uniting Church, Highton, will host vocal auditions on 30 April and instrumentalists on 7 May.
Star Search’s grand final will be at Sacred Heart College’s McAuley Hall on 30 May.
