Awards add Impetus to youth work

A diverse range of people and organisations have earned recognition for their achievements across various endeavours affecting young people in the Geelong region and beyond.
Organisers said City of Greater Geelong’s seventh annual Impetus Youth Awards attracted 125 nominations, “demonstrating the outstanding contribution of young people in our region”.
Some of the winners were young people, while others included organisations and individuals working on youth issues and programs.
Mayor Darryn Lyons helped announced the winners of the 12 categories were announced last week.
The award categories and their winners were: active achievement, Iesha Anderson, bicycle supercross; advocacy, Mitch Hope: community (group), Stand Out Team, Bellarine Secondary College; community (individual), Holly Montgomery; corporate, A Platoon program, Corio Fire Station; cultural/arts, April Hueber; inspiration, Stacy Sedlins; leadership, Hanna Teesdale; Sustainability, Jack Callahan; volunteer, Murray Hall; young carer, Amie Donald; worker – working with young people, Andrew Brittain; judge’s choice, Htoo Kolo.
