Lyons bares abs for social media vote vid

GEELONG’S irrepressible mayor Darryn Lyons is at it again, this time out with his surgically-enhanced abs and loudly exhorting backers for his home town  to host this year’s Social Media Tourism Symposium .

“So where the bloody hell are you voting for? Hashtag Geelong!” he bellows on a Youtube video after emerging from his swimming pool.

Fingers crossed as a hashtag , he breathlessly yells at followers to hashtag thisisGeelong!

He follows up with a race-caller’s non-stop running commentary, stopping only for the occasional yibbydee yibbydee tongue-twister or to draw breath.

“Hashtag votenow,  hashtag hometown, hashtag love, hashtag amazing, hashtag beautiful, hashtag wearegeelong the greatest team of all, giddyup, hashtag mohawk, hashtag sixpack, hashtag smugglybugglies,” he cries.

“Hashtag washboardabs, hashtag lara, hashtag wehavealara, hashtag itswaybetterthanher, hashtag throwanothershrimponthe, hashtag instagood, hashtag instalike, hashtaginstafollow (?), hashtag toomuchbloodyinsta, hashtag justvotenow.”

Cr Lyons then sinks into his pool, continuing his hashtag finger signals underwater.

The symposium brings the digital destination marketing community together and, social to the core, it’s letting the punters choose this year’s host destination.

Voting, which began this morning, will wrap up 5pm on Wednesday.
