AUSTRALIA’S highest-profile ironman, Prime Minister Tony Abbott, is marking his first 100 days in office on the Surf Coast.
Mr Abbott officially opened Torquay’s $115 million RACV resort this morning and announced Great Ocean Road works for Anglesea.
Flanked by State Transport Minister Terry Mulder, Corangamite MHR Sarah Henderson and Geelong mayor Darryn Lyons, he posed for a raft of photos that have emerged on Twitter this morning while extolling the virtues of his government’s infrastructure spending.
“The Anglesea community will benefit from these works which will improve the road surface from the Anglesea River Bridge through to the Tonge Street intersection,” Mr Abbott said.
“This project is one of the first to help improve the 240 kilometre Great Ocean Road, making it safer for everyone – local residents and visitors alike.”
“Building the infrastructure of the future – such as upgrading the Great Ocean Road – is part of the Government’s plan to build a stronger Australia,” the Prime Minister said.
“We will deliver the infrastructure that our nation needs so that people spend less time in traffic jams and more time with their families, businesses can get their goods and services to market faster, and our export and tourism industries can be more competitive.”
