Geelong choirs to unite for performance at Belmont

NOVEMBER promises to be choral month in Geelong with a feast of massed voices performing across three concerts.
Leading local choirs Geelong Welsh Ladies Choir and International Harvester Male Chorus will perform three concerts, one each and one together.
The Geelong Welsh Ladies Choir hosts a Victoria Welsh Male Choir with local guest artists Selmo Carriera, on piano, and Rita De Souza, violin, on 1 November at St Bernard’s Church, Fryers Rd, Belmont.
Director Jeanette John said the afternoon concert was not to be missed.
“Both choirs perform to a high standard with an international profile, complemented and enhanced by the performances of the guest artists,” John said.
The International Harvester Male Chorus, now also under the directorship of John, will perform an engaging musical program with local opera celebrity Lee Abrahmsen as its guest artist on 8 November at Thomson St Uniting Church.
“Lee is a talented local singer and will perform a varied program to enhance every listener,” John said.
The ladies and men will join for a Hint of Christmas concert, performing as individual choirs and together as a four-part choir on 29 November at St Luke’s Church, Highton.
“This concert is fortunate to include guest artist Sacha Cappell, the winner of this year’s Highton Rotary Club Star Search,” John said.
Tickets are available for $20 and less by phoning 5243 0366.
