GORDON fashion students have been working tirelessly to finish their final designs for their 2015 fashion exhibition.
They are living and breathing their designs, spending every waking moment, cutting, sewing and pulling together what has been a busy design season.
The exhibition and fashion show will be the culmination of three years of dedicated study and hard work.
The Fashion Show will give students the opportunity to learn what goes into a real fashion show whilst having the opportunity to showcase their designs to an audience filled with industry experts.
The designs are all very individual, with base materials including leather, crepes, wools, hand dyed materials and neoprene being used to create gorgeous statement garments.
“The hands-on learning and the knowledge and experience of our teachers has really enabled my creative ability,” said final year fashion student Bri Vogt.
“The end of the year is coming so quickly, I can’t wait to see our final collection.”
Not only have the students designed their own fashion range, they have made patterns and constructed all their own garments to produce contemporary product lines that would hold their own on any catwalk.
Over the last term, students have been on six week internships with major fashion houses including Country Road, Sportsgirl, Cotton On and Alex Perry.
These experiences give students the opportunity to show their skills and dedication to the fashion industry.
“In six weeks you get to experience so much. The internship changed my direction completely and now I am looking forward to continuing my career at Pearls and Roses Bridal,” student Maribel Law said.
The New Geelong Designers Fashion Exhibition from 6 October to 9 October is open weekdays from 10am to 4pm and the Gordon Fashion Show is on 13 October at 5.30pm, both at the Gordon Gallery.
