A VICIOUS assault in central Geelong left a 21-year-old Leopold man in hospital on Tuesday, according to police.
Constable Tracey Wagner said police were “quite concerned” about the attack.
“The young man’s injuries could have been a lot worse. It was a very aggressive assault.”
Const Wagner said the victim was assaulted when a group of males approached another group walking past Moorabool St’s Flight Centre about 2.55pm.
A male offender allegedly assaulted the victim before placing him in a “choker hold”, she said.
The offender fled before police arrived.
Const Wagner said an ambulance took the victim to Geelong Hospital.
Doctors discharged him later in the night.
Const Wagner described the alleged offender as around 183cm, with a muscular build and short brown hair.
Anyone with information should phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, she said.
