‘Jamb-packed’ community market set to emerge from winter recess

Erin Pearson
TORQUAY’S Cowrie Market will return to the town’s foreshore this weekend, with organisers promising a “jamb-packed” day of music and merchandise.
Organiser Kyla Vinton said home-grown produce and home-made crafts would again combine with local arts and music at the market as it returned from its winter recess.
However, the organisers had scheduled some exciting additions as the market entered its 13th consecutive year.
Performers Tess Gutherie, Bree-arne, Soul Combustion, Moonah and Storm River Project would feature on stage to “make sure everyone has a great day”, Ms Vinton said.
“The market will even have a free Zumba workshop in the afternoon and many other activities.
“We really want people to come down and have a look.”
The Cowrie Market operates from 10am to 3pm on the third Sunday of each month between September and April.
Ms Vinton said all products available for sale were environmentally friendly, hand-made, high quality and home-grown.
The market will be at its traditional foreshore home off The Esplanade between Gilbert and Anderson streets.
