Homicide Squad Cold Case detectives have arrested and charged long time suspect Karl Hague for the murder of 16-year-old Ricky Balcombe.
The 16-year-old was fatally stabbed in Market Square Shopping Centre, Geelong, in May 1995.
The investigation was reviewed in 2016 and formed part of the Channel 7 Million Dollar Cold Case program, which went to air this year.
An extensive investigation by Crime Command detectives over the past 22 years led to today’s arrest.
The 44-year-old man Bell Post Hill man appeared before Justice Lex Lasry in the Melbourne Supreme Court earlier today and was charged with one count of murder.
He was remanded in custody to re-appear at the Melbourne Supreme Court on 30 August for a mention/directions hearing.
