LOCAL wine connoisseurs will have the chance to sample some of Australia’s top wines when a trade day is thrown open to the public for the first time.
Organiser Terry Goldsworthy said more than 40 wine makers would offer 250 wines for tasting during Sip Geelong at The Pier.
Mr Goldsworthy, area manager for wine distributor red white + Mezzanine, said the unique event would offer chances to taste wines usually unavailable to sample.
“If you’ve ever walked down an aisle in a liquor store and wondered what this or that wine tasted like but never buy it, here’s your chance to try it,” he said.
“Patrons will receive a booklet to help them identify various wines and record their impressions for future reference.
“They’ll also get to take home a lovely wine glass with a recommended retail value of $25, all for just $35 entry.”
Wineries set to attend include Mt Adams, Giant Steps, Edwards, Curlewis, Chapel Hill, All Saints and even New Zealand vintners.
The event is from 6pm to 9pm on 2 September, with a Plumm Wine Glass Experience beginning 7pm for $50.
