No worries for Skillaroo Anthony Leban

By TONCI PRUSAC

TALENTED North Geelong Warriors attacking midfielder and rising local star Anthony Leban has been selected for Victoria’s elite Skilleroos squad.
The up and coming 12-year-old has been offered a spot on the elite junior squad’s Under 13 team roster for 2015.
Football Federal Victoria development coach Anthony Frost said the full-time program would see players training three to four times a week in Melbourne.
A grade six student at Bell Park’s Holy Family Primary School, Anthony has already had a massive 2014.
He was the only Geelong player selected in the Victorian State Schoolboys team, taking part in the National Primary Schools Carnival in Bendigo in September.
He fronted up a fortnight later for the Under 13 Victorian Country state team at the FFA National Championships in Coffs Harbour.
Anthony was captain as well as the best and fairest winner for North Geelong’s inaugural under 12 NPL team last season.
Anthony’s father, Stan, is a former player and senior coach at Corio Soccer Club and has coached his son from his early years.
Stan said the academy style program would incorporate intra and inter-state travel for selected players.
Anthony beat a field of over 300 trialists to nail down a spot amongst the 27 member Skilleroos squad.
The Skilleroos program is Football Federation Australia program and is part of Football Federation Victoria’s Talented Player Development program.
