AN OCEAN Grove indoor market will run throughout winter following a successful trial last year, according to service club Rotary.
Ocean Grove Rotary club indoor market coordinator John Paton said the market at Bellarine Sports and Aquatic Centre was possibly the first to run regularly during winter on the Bellarine Peninsula.
The market would complement Rotary-operated summer markets at Kingston Park, allowing residents and visitors to enjoy market shopping year-round, he said.
About 900 people visited the June market last week which had 56 stalls selling craft and produce.
“It would appear word of mouth has spread. Being indoors makes it very attractive,” Mr Paton said.
The market could hold up to 80 stalls in an area the size of two basketball arenas, he said.
Ocean Grove Men’s Shed president Brian Mason said having a stall at the indoor market would help the group sell toys year-round.
“We sell little toy cars, trains, hobby horses – if we can find something to make we’ll make it.”
