Piles of horror with ‘wedding’

By PAUL MILLAR

SOMETHING always goes wrong at a wedding, from the toppled cake to the torn bridal dress.
But a forthcoming wedding at Queenscliff’s Vue Grand is likely to leave guests in stitches.
Crepe Expectations Productions has drawn on past horror stories true and false and laced them with wicked humour in an interactive show that press-gangs the audience into participation.
The unusual production, Weddings With Piles of Elegance, has been specially written for the historic Queenscliff hotel, with guests nudged into primary roles like father of the bride.
The show begins with Tony Piles, the host for the evening, forced to improvise when the bride fails to arrive.
Things go from bad to worse as Piles and his staff desperately try to salvage the celebration as all falls apart around them.
Caleb Fleet, the hotel’s food and beverage manager, said the appeal of the night was the involvement and improvisation of the guests.
“Whether you like it or not, you’re a part of the show and it’s unexpected – you have no idea what is going to happen and it’s pretty much just chaos for two hours,” Fleet said.
“It’s a fully interactive show with physical comedy and be prepared to get caught up in the commotion!”
The show opens 20 November, featuring a three-course dinner and drinks for $130 a heard.
Flett said more information was available from the Vue Grand’s Sarah Horsburgh, phone 5258 1544 or email sarah@vuegrand.com.au
