Bomb scare closes road

Police closed Melbourne Road in both directions as the bomb squad investigated a property at Corio this afternoon.
Victoria Police spokesperson Natalie Webster said police were conducting a safety response check and confirmed the bomb squad were attending as a precaution.
Motorists reported police operating two bomb squad robots in the area on social media.
One witness said the robots were “poking at a package on the side of the service road”.
Another said Plantation Road was “choked with traffic” as police diverted cars.
Ms Webster said police expected Melbourne Road to remain shut until at least 3.30pm.
