50 stalls of dolls

Michelle Winkle still remembers going with her grandmother Beryl to the Geelong Doll, Teddy and Craft show when it began 25 years ago.
“She was one of the first people to start it,” she said. “She’d be thrilled to see that it’s still continuing.
“I was at the very first one when I was 14 years old, and I made scones in the backroom – batches and batches of them!”
Michelle collected porcelain dolls as a child and will open this year’s event in honour of Beryl.
“(The dolls) are really special because my grandmother bought them – it was something my grandmother and I loved doing.”
Quota International Geelong has raised about $100,000 for various Geelong charities through the show since it began, according to organisers.
“It’s just amazing that they’re still managing to run it, even one day,” Michelle said.
This year’s show features 50 stalls of dolls, teddies, handcrafted jewellery, cards and ceramics and other craft items.
The show’s Doll Doctor will be on site to repair dolls or offer valuations, while all proceeds will support Geelong Mums.
Geelong Mums recycles preloved baby and nursery equipment and other essentials to give to disadvantaged families.
