Four Australian music legends will join forces to bring their classic hits to Geelong next month.
The talents of Kate Ceberano, Daryl Braithwaite, John Paul Young and Jon Stevens will combine for this year’s APIA Good Times tour.
Each artist will play a solo set before sharing the stage in a quartet finale backed by a six-piece band.
But it won’t be the first time Ceberano has performed alongside John Paul Young.
A teenage Ceberano played with the Scottish-born Australian singer in her early days while she was performing in an alternative funk band I’m Talking.
Ceberano said the Good Times tour was a rare opportunity for Aussie stars to perform as a collective.
“It’s not often you get the opportunity to do a group tour,” she told the Indy.
“It’s kind of weird. Australian acts don’t seem to fraternise too much.
“People think we meet up to jam but that’s not the case.
“We haven’t started rehearsals yet but performing is like breathing for us these days. It’ll be more about finding a connection and camaraderie so we can get into a bit of a rhythm because everyone has their casting on the stage.
“The great thing about this tour is that audiences also bring all of their memories of our music with them to our shows and it’s a really fun night.”
Ceberano said she was also in the process of producing a three-disc compilation of her greatest hits.
“It’s been a bit therapeutic really, it’s a bit like going back in time,“ she said.
“The things that count are your humble beginnings.”
Ceberano said fans could expect to dance to classic hits including The Horses, As The Days Go By, Pash, Bedroom Eyes, Touch, Take Me Back, Yesterday’s Hero and Love Is In The Air.
“I think some of these songs are very much ingrained in the Australia culture. I don’t think people should miss out on this.”
The Good Times tour will arrive at Geelong weatefront Costa Hall on 29 May.
