Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard has announced a $1.5 million funding boost for multicultural training and education facilities in Geelong.
Multicultural services provider Diversitat will use the money to develop adult community education facilities five new training rooms and offices as well as equipment and amenities at three sites around Geelong.
Diversitat chief executive officer Michael Martinez said the money would boost training and education opportunities in Geelong.
“This is a significant injection of funding for our adult community education programs and shows that the Rudd Government understands the important role which adult education plays in up-skilling people to access jobs,” he said.
The new infrastructure would support and improve training in “employability”, literacy and numeracy skills while helping people find work or further training, Mr Martinez said.
Ms Gillard visited Diversitat’s The Pulse radio station to announce the funding.
