ANYONE feeling the chill in Geelong today should spare a thought for construction workers hitting the heights at Newtown.
They might enjoy a bird’s eye view of surrounding suburbs and the Barwon River but, with temperatures still in single digits this morning, the air up there in the cherry-picker provides little in the way of cold comfort.
The workers are battling a cold snap across the region as they restore a chimney on Rutland St’s historic Returned Sailors and Soldiers Woollen Mill.
Geelong’s temperature was 9C at 9am, on the way to a forecast maximum of 12C.
