A Jan Juc woman spent a night in a stolen caravan while coming to terms with the murder of her son, a court heard this week.
Debra Day, 51, faced Geelong Magistrates Court on Wednesday to answer to a charge of assisting in the retention of the $48,000 caravan.
Police prosecutor Leading Senior Constable Rowan Mifsud told the court police discovered Day living in the caravan in Echuca on January 25.
Snr Const Mifsud said Day’s ex-husband contacted police admitting to stealing the caravan from a Freshwater Creek property.
Snr Const Mifsud said Day had no role in the “actual theft”.
Wendy Gibbons, for Day, said her client was “not dealing well” with the murder of her son four years earlier and only stayed in the caravan for “a night or two”.
Mr von Einem convicted Day and sentenced her to an 18-month good-behaviour bond.
