Geelong will seek $30 million from a $100 million national fund for two priority projects after they missed out on funding in this week’s federal budget.
But Committee for Geelong’s Peter Dorling said the twin $15 million applications to upgrade the city’s library and heritage centre and Skilled Stadium were a “big ask”.
City of Greater Geelong has sought the money from Regional Development Australia’s (RDA) first round of funding.
Mr Dorling, who also serves as RDA Barwon South West’s co-deputy chair, said the region “may have to be patient”.
State Government allocated $15 million for the library and heritage centre upgrade last week on top of the City’s existing $20 million commitment.
Cats chief Brian Cook said the club would adjust the Skilled Stadium project. which included lights, to fit the funding available.
