A LEOPOLD man’s fatal crash at Moolap during Easter was a tragic reminder motorists should take more care on local roads, according to Geelong’s top cop.
Inspector Gary Bruce said Geelong’s police service area had three “serious injury collisions” from last Thursday to Monday.
Gary Henman died instantly when his Nissan Skyline hit a power pole on Portarlington-Geelong Rd about 11pm Sunday.
Insp Bruce said Geelong Police recorded 12 road accidents and 209 traffic offences over Easter.
“There were also 11 reported alcohol-related driving offences.”
Police would continue a strong presence this year to combat the road toll, Insp Bruce said.
“We’re determined to reduce the number of fatalities for the year. We’re making our road policing emphasis as strong a possible.”
