Lara food festival cooking up plenty of fun for kids

KIDS will learn to cook up a treat at Lara Food and Wine Festival this month, organisers have announced.
They said Coles, which recently opened a supermarket in the town, would sponsor free cooking classes for children as part of the event.
“Kids will learn about good nutrition and cooking in a fun, entertaining and hands-on cooking class.”
The festival will again host more than 80 exhibitors along with entertainment and activities including celebrity chefs running cooking demonstrations using local produce.
“The Artisan Smallgoods Award, in memory of the late renowned smallgoods maker Angel Cardoso, is also a feature of the festival,” the organisers said.
“Bring a picnic rug, gather goodies form our stall holders and enjoy a leisurely lunch on the lawns of the magnificent Pirra Homestead.”
The organisers said entry cost $5 for patrons aged over 18 and parking was free.
The festival will be at Pirra Homestead, on Windemere Rd, on 22 March.
More information is available at larafoodandwinefestival.com.au and the event’s Facebook page.
The Independent is a sponsor of the Lara Food and Wine Festival.
