THE rebuilding of Lara’s town centre is ahead of schedule, with a new Station Lake Rd alignment opening last week.
Ward councillor Tony Ansett said residents were excited about the major project, with the new alignment marking a significant step.
“The new road is an essential part of the Lara town centre expansion as it enables the rest of the town centre project to move forward,” Cr Ansett said.
“Lara town centre expansion is much needed to cater for Lara’s growth and will ensure the community’s needs are met now and into the future.”
The project so far relocated Lara Bowls Club to Alkara Ave and includes construction of a new Coles supermarket and specialty stores and redevelopment of Austin Park.
