Norlane man arrested over soccer brawl

A 32-YEAR-old Norlane man has been charged with affray, conduct endangering serious injury, throw/discharge missile and carry dangerous article, after police arrested four men earlier today following a city brawl between rival soccer fans in December.

The man has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrate’s Court on 20 May.

Members from Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit searched houses in Swallow Crescent at Norlane, Edgar Street at Kingsville and Cumberland Court at Werribee this morning.

A 44-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, both from Kingsville, a 19-year-old man from Werribee were also arrested.

The arrests follow a brawl outside a licensed premises in Bourke Street on 28 December.

Three people were treated at the scene and one person was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The 19-year-old Kingsville man has been charged with affray, conduct endangering injury, discharge distress signal (flare), throw/discharge missile and has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrate’s Court on 20 May.

The 44-year-old Kingsville man has been charged with affray, conduct endangering serious injury, throw/discharge missile and carry dangerous article, and has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrate’s Court on 20 May.

The 19-year-old Werribee man has been charged with affray, conduct endangering serious injury, throw/discharge missile and possess distress signal (flare), and has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrate’s Court on 20 May.

A 23-year-old man from NSW has since been charged with Conduct Endangering Serious Injury, Discharging a Missile and Possessing Cannabis.

The Denham Court man was bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court on 24 April.

Detectives from Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit are continuing to investigate the incident.
