Danger deal done dirt quick

PATRICK Dangerfield is officially a Cat.
In the first deal of the trade period former Adelaide midfield superstar Patrick Dangerfield has joined Geelong.
The monster trade of the season is signed sealed and delivered as the Moggs Creek local gets his desired move home.
Geelong has parted with VFL tyro Dean Gore, along with picks nine and 28, and received pick 50 in return with Dangerfield.
Gore’s manager Marty Pask told AFL Trade Radio the deal was good news.
“We’ve seen in the past when there’s someone like Dangerfield’s standing in the game it can drag on a little bit.
“Both parties have come out of it pretty reasonably. Dean’s only been in the game 12 months at AFL level, the key thing from my point-of-view is he was educated and could make a decision in his own time.
“We were able to make that decision last week. Adelaide was always interested in Dean. So I think there was an opportunity to ask the question if he wanted to come home.”
Dangerfield will be officially unveiled at a 3pm press conference at the Cattery today.
Geelong did not lodge a free agency offer for the midfield superstar from Moggs Creek but went straight to a trade.
Gore, who went at pick 55 at the AFL draft, was on the verge of senior selection early in the season before a shoulder injury forced him to miss seven weeks.
After recovering, Gore averaged more than 20 disposals a VFL game on at least three occasions.
The 19-year-old was dominant for South Australia in the 2014 AFL National Championships and played 12 senior games for Sturt in the SANFL.
An inside attacking midfielder, Geelong considered him a strong prospect throughout the season and was buoyant about his future.
Patrick Dangerfield told Adelaide he wanted to exercise his rights as a free agent and join Geelong at the end of the season.
Geelong is also awaiting a decision by West Coast on its vice-captain Scott Selwood, who has nominated for free agency. The West Australian club has three days to decide whether to match Geelong’s offer.
Former Carlton swingman Lachie Henderson and Gold Coast ruckman Zac Smith are other big expected trades involving Geelong.
