Shane falls for footy nostalgia

By JOHN VAN KLAVEREN

ANYONE ever in need of a nostalgia kick should drop in to see Shane Falls at his Fyans St car yard.
The Geelong vehicle veteran has more than enough pieces of yesteryears memories to keep even the most ardent nostalgic going for months.
Shane estimates he has as many as 6000 items hanging on walls, in display cases and littered around the floor of his upstairs “gallery”.
“I’ve been collecting for 20 years,” the well-known car valuer and dealer admits.
His passions of cars and the Geelong Cats shine through, standing prominent amongst the flags, bunting, radiograms, records, model cars, posters, and kid’s toys.
Going by the framed posters and signed photos, Polly Farmer is a favourite, along with Gary Ablett senior and Bobby Davis.
“I never had much as a kid, so I guess I see the value in things. People get rid of this stuff, I don’t know why,” Shane explains.
“I collect anything that catches my eye. I try to cater for everyone. I just like it, becomes a talking point.”
The gallery attracts a steady stream of visitors through word of mouth, “mostly oldies”, Shane chuckles.
