‘Cute Factor’ wins Geelong national cheerleading title

Cute by name and nature, Geelong’s youngest elite-level cheerleaders are now Australian champions.
The15 girls aged eight and under won an Australian Allstar Cheerleading and Dance Federation National Cheer Champions title in Melbourne last weekend.
Operator of their Cheer Geelong gym Kirralee Badham said the “aptly named Cute Factor” team won its section against 10 other teams from around the country.
“The talented and fit little athletes have been training twice a week all year to master their tumbling, stunting and dance skills in order to smash out an action-packed two-and-a-half-minute routine that would impress the judges and large arena of spectators,” Ms Badham said.
“Having previously placed third then second at the state competition, they reached their peak at just the right time to walk away with the enviable first place trophy.”
Ms Badham’s gym sent almost 200 athletes to perform 40 floor routines over the two days of the championships.
